Marshall Smith has been a legendary golf instructor for over 50 years. After a competitive amateur golf career, Smith turned his focus to teaching. Smith considered Ky Laffoon as his mentor and like Laffoon would help hundreds of golfers each year and shaped the golf careers of some of the sports finest. Smith has worked with Craig Stadler, Chi Chi Rodriquez, Gary Player and others. Smith is also known for his teaching relationship with Mickey Mantle. Smith headed Mantle's Celebrity Golf Classic at Shangri-La Resort and the Kids Come First tournaments held in the 1980s and 1990s.
Smith currently writes articles for “Golf Tips” magazine and has authored a book titled “Hit the Second Shot First.” His method of teaching implements the “K.I.S.S. Method.” Smith currently teaches out of Peoria Ridge golf course in Miami, Oklahoma. Marshall was voted into the Joplin Golf Hall of Fame in 1998.
