During the early 1990s in Joplin it felt like Robert Russell won every tournament he played in. Russell has many victories, including the Joplin Globe City Championship in 1991, 1992, and 1994; the Ozark Amateur in 1994 and 1995; the Twin Hills Invitational in 1995 and 1996; the Briarbrook Invitational 1994, 1995, and 1996. Further, he won the Michelob golfer of the year in 1994, the National Junior college champion in 1995, and 17 collegiate titles. In 1999, Russell played in the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No.2. Russell currently plays on the Hooters Tour. |
