Sam Reynolds was born in Wichita Falls, Texas. A caddie in his youth, Sam turned golf into a career. Sam was an assistant pro at Blue Hills Country Club in Kansas City. In 1957, Sam and his wife had their first child Cathy who’s birth prompted the family to move to Springfield, Missouri. He would take the head professional possition at Hickory Hills Country Club. He continued playing in tour events during his time at Hickory Hills. He played in the PGA Championship in 1961, 1964, 1965, and 1966. He played in the U.S. Open in 1963, finishing in 32nd place. While on tour, he had a total of five second place finishes. Sam had seven victories in the Midwest Section of the P.G.A. Championships. He would stay at Hickory Hills for 40 years and be elected as the Professional of the Year in 1982 by the mid-west section of the P.G.A.
